This second coal plant is within a close proximity to an older one in a neighboring county and occurs along the Upper Clinch River, home to many imperiled species of aquatic wildlife. This concentration of coal-emissions and coal-mining activity could damage the Clinch River and its inhabitants to the point of extinction.
